Not a good start.....

I have just heard that a good friend of mine was diagnosed with motor neurone disease on Friday. He is 47 and has just retired from being a fireman for twenty seven years. He is one of the nicest people you will ever meet. His life was on course, he got married to his long time partner two years ago, he had made lots of plans for the future. He is strong, he will cope with the coming months, hopefully years. How we all will is another matter. It may be a cliche, but we can never take things for granted, can we. But we must enjoy life, everyday.

It's always when things like this happen that we catch our breath and realise our own mortality, and perhaps appreciate our own health a bit more...I do hope he will be okay and make it through whatever lies ahead of him.

sorry about that - not a good thing to hear.

My cousin's husband has been slowly and gradually deteriorating from this illness for the last 36 years. Very, very sad. He was a strapping young man, very handsome, a joiner to trade. They got married, had two lovely children. Then wham! He's had every treatment in the book. Everyone feels helpless, apart from raising funds. There are no words, only hugs.

Wendz, Yes you are so right. It can all slip away with the click of a finger. We should travel and eat well and have lots and lots of fun while we can.......

wildlife gardener, there are two different types, one is a slow course and the other quite fast, about fourteen months is the norm. We all hope and pray that he has the first kind, as we can all rally round and try and make his life as bright as we can. We will of course do the same what ever happens. He is a dear friend, and they are priceless.

I'm so sorry. And I agree with you, it's too easy to take everyday things for granted. We don't appreciate how wonderful it is to be able to do so.

Have you found the photo of me yet? In fact, there are two of them, now I think of it. In one, I'm facing the camera, but it is quite misleading.
