What a busy time..........

We have had quite a busy week. Last weekend we went to collect Wendy's car from Bill. That was a fun weekend, and it was nice that Wendy had some one to talk to apart from me. On the way home Wendy stopped after a toll and said that there was a high pitched whining noise coming from somewhere on the car. I drove it for a while and there was indeed a very strange noise coming from somewhere. It would go away when you pressed hard on the brake pedal. Being the mechanic that I am I deduced that it was something to do with the brakes.

We got home, by taking our time and enjoying the views. On the Monday morning we took it into the Citroen garage in Lamalou. We waited for a while, watching the head mechanic have a hizzy
fit and kick doors open and closed. Our good luck was with us, as he was the one who would look after us. Wendy explained the best she could what the problem was, he nodded and smiled asked a few questions and said he would look at it. We waited for a while, but decided that we would go for a coffee and come back later. We returned about an hour later and he told us that the front left disc had worn out and the brake pads were seized up. They needed replacing at a cost of €281. I was expecting this, in fact I was expecting as would happen in England, both front discs needing replacing. We said to go ahead with thoughts of waiting until Thursday or Friday to collect the car. Wendy asked when can we collect the car ?. Six o'clock he said. And true to his word we arrived at five to six and the car was ready for collection. Superb service. We took the car first to the jet wash and then the proper car wash. We bought some wax and Wendy waxed the whole car. It looked great. Then yesterday we got up at 5.30 and set off for Montpellier to meet up with Wendy's ex who had travelled down from Belfort on the sleeper train to take the car back. He is buying it as we will have no need for her in England. So she is back where she started in Belfort. Which is a nice thing. We are cleaning and packing up as it is our last week here. We are both sad, but at the same time excited. This time next week we will be in the apartment overlooking the marina. Then who knows what is down the line ?. Some more fun we hope..........
