Having just read a great post by Boy on top, I was thinking along very similar lines. What is happening to our country ?. Last time I looked we were free. Now we are told what to do, where to go and when to go there. And how to get there.
I watched a film on Sunday called V for Vendetta. It was quite amazing. The story is about our country in twenty years time. There is one party that dictate all things to everyone, all the time. In the film there is a curfew of 10pm. As I was watching this I said to Wendy ' If they wanted to, this goverment could impose this on us'. And they could under the ' threat of terroism laws '. Anyone caught out will be considered a threat to society. I for one would not be surprised. When will the people wake up ?. We are fed the line of global warming, which means more controls over us. The planet has been going through cycles since it began. The biggest is ' terrorism '. We cannot mouth a protest least we are seen as traitors. In my mind when you change your lifestyle or have to go without things, the terrorist has won. Why in the seventies and eighties when the IRA was blowing up London and Brighton were these laws not bought in ?. Because they would have not got away with it, people were more concerned about their real lives, and not new cars and Prada handbags.
As far as I can see we will never get back to where we were. They watch us, they listen into phone calls. They track our every move. The oldest democracy in the world is no more. Tear up the Magna Carta and let's all queue up for our labotomies..........
